Please Note:
Unfortunately, the nesting colony on Governors Island was not successful this year. While there are many possible causes for the colony's lack of success, we do not have a concrete answer at this time. The NYC Audubon team is working with Governors Island to assess the issue and employ proactive measures that will be sure to protect this important nesting habitat in the future. For the festival, this means that some terns will likely be seen foraging near their old nesting site, and gull chicks should be visible, but a large tern colony with young will not be present.
