Intro to Birding in Morningside Park on World Migratory Bird Day (10/14) (Free)

10/14/2023 08:30 AM - 10:30 AM ET

Admission

  • Free

Description

Though nearby Central Park gets lots of attention from birders, migrating birds are equally attracted to beautiful nearby Morningside Park, also designed by Central Park architects Calvert Vaux and Frederick Law Olmstead. We'll search for songbirds, waterbirds, and raptors that visit the wooded paths and water features of Morningside at the peak of fall migration.

Registration not required but encouraged. Beginners welcome! Binoculars available upon request.

Note on Accessibility:

Morningside Park contains paved paths, though some areas have steep inclines and stairs. Restrooms can be found near multiple paygrounds around the park, with an accessible one located at the Playground 123 Public Restroom on West 123rd Street & Morningside Avenue. The M3 and M4 buses stop closest to the meeting spot, and the A, B, and C trains are accessible at the nearby Cathedral Parkway (110th Street) station.
