Nearly 240 bird species have been spotted on Governors Island, which provides excellent habitat all year round. Whether you’re an expert birder or a beginner, these tours will help you discover all of the birdlife the island has to offer. Binoculars are available to borrow.

The tour will meet on Governors Island in front of Nolan Park House #17. No registration required. Free.

Note on Accessibility:

We acknowledge that this event takes place during Rosh Hashanah and that some members of our community are unable to attend because of the holiday. Please check our events calendar at nycaudubon.org/calendar for a list of the other 100+ events and outings through the fall.

The Governors Island ferry is free on weekends before noon, but if you plan to arrive in the afternoon, you will need to purchase ferry tickets. Governors Island contains a variety of terrain, from hilly, grassy areas to paved and cobble stone paths. The latter can be difficult to walk on with strollers, for example. Public restrooms are located a short distance away from the Nolan Park House.
