Join NYC Audubon and the New York Restoration Project in celebrating the 16th annual City of Water Day! City of Water Day was created by the Waterfront Alliance and the New York–New Jersey Harbor & Estuary Program (HEP) to promote and support climate resiliency in the New York and New Jersey harbor. 

 

NYC Audubon and the New York Restoration Project are teaming up to offer several activities at Sherman Creek Park this day, including birding. Meet just north of PS 5 (3703 10th Ave, New York, NY 10034) at the start of a woodchipped trail that leads into Sherman Creek Park. No limit. Free.

 

1:00-2:00pm – Birding Tour led by NYRP volunteer Ben Sadock
2:00-3:30pm – Shoreline Stewardship invasive vegetation and litter removal with NYRP's Edwards Santos – Registration is required for this activity here
3:30-4:30pm – Wetland Restoration and Shoreline Resilience Tour with NYRP's Jason Smith and NYC Audubon's Russell Jacobs
1:30-3:00pm – Sidewalk Science with Participatory Science Solutions

 

Note on Accessibility:

Sherman Creek Park is accessible by the BX12-SBS and M100 buses, as well as the 1 and Hudson line trains. If you are traveling by car the nearest parking is at 210 Sherman Ave. Trail surface is mainly brick and concrete pathways, with some gravel and wood chipped areas. Restrooms are located at Sherman Creek Park Comfort Station (Dyckman St, 10th Ave and Harlem River Drive). For more information about Sherman Creek Park, click here.
