Description

Join Queens County Bird Club on May 6 for a Birdathon walk in memory of César Castillo. Alley Pond Park was one of César’s favorite birding spots. The Alley Pond Park bird walk will be led by Mack Chitilescu.

Funds from the Birdathon will go towards the NYC Audubon efforts that Cesar cared deeply about: public programming in his home county of Queens, with a focus on connecting underserved communities to nature.

Meet outside the Alley Pond Environmental Center in Alley Pond Park. To get there by car, take the Long Island Expressway to Springfield Boulevard, head south on Springfield to 76th Avenue; turn East on 76th Avenue and the parking lot will be on your left. Park near the Alley Pond Park Environmental Center building. By public transit, take the Q88 or Q27 bus to stops nearby.

Parking and entrance to the APEC building and grounds is free, but there is a suggested donation of $5 per person. For detailed information and directions to this location, visit the Alley Pond Environmental Center website
