Spring Birding with Alice Austen House (4/8) (Free)
Admission
- Free
Description
Meet us at LGBTQ+ historical monument Alice Austen House for some early spring birding! Right on Staten Island's eastern coast, Alice Austen Park provides a beautiful view of The Narrows, where may also find different species of waterfowl.
Registration not required but encouraged (it helps us know how many binoculars we should bring!). No limit. Free.
Following the birding event, feel free to stick around for Alice Austen House's zine making workshop. Capacity is limited, so pre-registration is encouraged.
Note on Accessibility:
This park has a mix of paved and unpaved paths on fairly flat terrain. The Alice Austen House museum is wheelchair accessible and contains a restroom. There is a small gravel parking lot behind the museum, accessible from Hylan Boulevard. Street parking is generally available along Edgewater Street at the corner of the museum. Otherwise, the site is accessible by the S78 bus. For more information about the Alice Austen House and Park, you can visit the museum's website as well as NYC Parks' website.
